Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and our family here at Baked Smart Cookie would like to bring awareness to pediatric cancer, which is the leading cause of death for children under 14 years old.
1. Take Action and Get Inspired
Every year, there are various events, walks, and runs to celebrate cancer survivors and to commemorate those who have lost their fight. Oftentimes, by participating in these types of events, you can support the fundraising that often accompanies them.
Better yet, you can even host your own event in your community. Whatever you choose to do, even the smallest gesture can help to bring awareness to this issue and help in the fight towards eliminating childhood cancer.
2. Send Positive and Uplifting Letters or Books
Another way to get involved is by writing letters or sharing books with children dealing with the condition. This is a great way for you and your family to get involved in spreading positivity and goodness in your community.
Through the organization, “I See Me!,” you can create and submit online letters via www.iseeme.com/letters. Send love and positive thoughts to these amazing fighters no matter where you are.
3. Shop With Purpose
With school in full swing, there is no doubt that you will continue to shop for school supplies, food for school lunches, and clothes throughout the school year. Thankfully, there are retailers that help support the fight against childhood cancer, including:
- Amazon Smile
- eBay Giving Works
- Love Your Melon
- Spot Hero
- Beauty Kind

4. Donate
Donations, no matter how big or small, make all the difference in the world. Ultimately, it’s the thought that matters and helping to contribute to the research that can potentially save hundreds of lives is a donation well made.
St. Jude Children’s Hospital is an excellent organization that is leading the charge against childhood cancer.
These are just a few ways that you can get involved and make a real difference in the lives of children and their families. So what are you waiting for? Get involved today!
